Mid-Year Freak Out Tag

1. Best Book You’ve Read This Year?

 

 

I’m stuck between two – I absolutely adored Circe by Madeline Miller, but I literally had all the feels for The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang!

2. Best Sequel You’ve Read in 2018?

Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff was hands down one of the best sequels I read in a series, I loved Hannah and thought she brought the kick ass.

3. New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To?

I’ve heard such good things about the follow-up book to Caraval, I can’t wait to check out Legendary by Stephanie Garber.

4. Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year?

 

There actually aren’t too many I’m super excited for, but these two have been on my radar and I most likely will want to read them. City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab and What if it’s us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera.

5. Biggest Disappointment?

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black was just OK for me, although the ending was pretty good and I will most likely check out The Wicked King.

6. Biggest Surprise?

I’m not really into morbid topics and my appetite or tolerance for violence has wained as I get older, but Scythe by Neal Shusterman was a pleasant surprise.

7. Favorite New To You Or Debut Author?

 

 

Its surprising that my two new favourite authors both write romance, I never really dug romances but I was in love with both of these books. Sally Thorne and Helen Hoang are my two new favourite authors this year.

8. Newest Fictional Crush?

Um, so these post is morphing into “Gush about The Kiss Quotient”. Michael Phan is described as looking like the famous K-drama and movie star Daniel Henney. He also did the voice for Tadashi Hamada in Big Hero 6. He is so freaking cute and sensitive, I just want to squish him. So big crush on him!

9. Newest Favorite Character?

I just read Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews, and I’m totally digging Kate Daniels at the moment!

10. Book That Made You Cry?

The Fragile Ordinary by Samatha Young was the only one that made me cry this year, big ugly tears. There was a scene with Comet, the main character, and her father that made me die small deaths. I live for family dynamics, and this was just so good.

11. Book That Made You Happy?

 

Both of these made my face hurt from smiling so much!

12. Favorite Book-To-Film Adaptation?

I watched Me Before You the other day, and it wasn’t my favourite Book to Film adaptation ever, but it’s the only one I can think of right now. I am however looking forward to Crazy Rich Asians coming out in August!!!! CAN’T WAIT SO EXCITED.

13. Favorite Post You Have Done This Year?

My favourite post was my Unforgettable Bookish Memories Tag. I wasn’t tagged by anyone and I decided to do it on my own. I loved writing that post and walking down memory lane.

14. Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year?

This is a tough one, there were so many pretty ones! I think Children of Blood and Bone was one of my favourites cover wise.

15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of the Year?

Tooooo freaking many. I think more like I want to catch up on some series like Illuminae Files, The Diviners, Red Rising, Scythe, An Ember in the Ashes, etc.

I also want to check out some authors I have yet to read like Victoria Schwab and Laini Taylor.

    I want to read the Kiss Quotient SO BAD!!!! Maybe I should have got it for my mom for her birthday so I could read it first… Yes. We do that in my family! 😂😂 I may have to fight you for your crushes by the way.. 😉

    Ugh Circe sounds so good! I swear I will get to it at SOME point this year, but I’m in a reading slump and am afraid it might be a little too flowery for me right now? And holy crap, I’ve literally never heard of/seen Michael Phan before this post and now I need to know more…for um, scientific reasons. Thank you for the tag!! ❤ ❤
